AP Exams 2025: The College Board will begin moving 28 Advanced Placement (AP) tests to a computer-based format from May 2025. The move will use the existing Bluebook platform, which is also employed in SAT tests, to give students globally, including in India, a new and simplified testing experience.

New digital format

The digital format will supplant paper-based exams for the majority of subjects, providing students with a convenient testing experience. 16 exams, such as AP English, AP Psychology, and AP Computer Science, will be entirely digital, while 12 exams, including AP Biology and AP Chemistry, will use a hybrid model, integrating digital multiple-choice questions and paper-based free-response sections.

Meenakshi Kachroo Chatta, College Board Senior Director & Regional Head, states, "With digital AP Exams, we're leveling the playing field and giving students more flexibility and access to take their AP Exams. This is an important milestone, enabling students to leverage technology and better equip themselves academically."

Widespread access

The digital format will be accessible at 35 AP test sites across the country, including prominent sites in Delhi/NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chennai. To help ensure a smooth transition, the College Board will offer extensive preparation materials, including test previews, practice tests, and video lessons, to acquaint students with the Bluebook platform and gain confidence prior to exam day.
