India's Kush Maini made history after being announced as the reserve driver for Alpine F1 team.
Maini is the only Alpine F1 reserve driver actively competing in the Formula 2 Championship for Dams Lucas Oil.
The 24-year-old Maini becomes third Indian driver after Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandok to be a part of a Formula 1
Maini first joined the Alpine Academy in October 2023 and completed four tests with the Alpine F1 Team last season.
Last year in Jeddah he made history by becoming the first Indian driver to claim a pole position in Formula 2.
In 2025, Maini had an exceptional Formula 2 season where he secured five podium positions
Maini played a pivotal role in Invicta Racing’s Teams’ Championship victory for the 2024 F2 season
The 2025 Formula 1 season will start this weekend, March 14-16, with the first of the 24 races scheduled in Australia.
