Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The crime branch arrested seven people for allegedly running an online betting racket during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final between India and New Zealand. DCP (crime) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi said that acting on a tip-off, the officials raided a flat owned by Anuj Gupta located in Scheme No. 78 under Lasudia police station limits.

The police seized 52 mobile phones, 9 laptops, 35 ATM cards, 44 checkbooks, 2 modems, 4 mobile chargers, 2 laptop chargers, betting registers and other documents detailing transactions worth Rs 20 to 25 crore from the spot. The online betting was running for almost a year, the accused rented the flat in April 2024.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Yash Bhana is the mastermind behind the racket and police are gathering information about him. The accused were using mule accounts for transferring betting money and using fake SIMs for communication. The accused were found operating online betting through websites https://winjoyexch.com and https://ww.rebel247.com, where they created customer IDs and accepted payments through multiple bank accounts. The police will take legal action against those who developed these softwares and who provided them with the rented place.

The accused have been identified as Satish Suthar of Rajasthan (10th Pass), Ravi Chaudhary of Ujjain (BE Engineer), Nilesh Patidar of Ratlam (BA), Sachin Yadav of Ujjain (12th Pass), Mohit Nagal of Ujjain (10th Pass), Vishal Yadav of Ratlam (Polytechnic Engineer) and Sahil Khan of Indore (10th Pass). A case has been registered against the accused for organised crime and gambling under relevant sections of BNS and Gambling Act. The accused are being further interrogated to gather information about people involved in the racket.
