Navi Mumbai: A man lost his life while his 13-year-old nephew sustained serious injuries after he lost control of his motorcycle and fell into a roadside drain near Sonari village on Sunday night. Investigations revealed that the accident occurred due to the rider’s negligent driving. As a result, Uran police have registered a case against the deceased motorcycle rider.
The deceased has been identified as Pawankumar Bhagwandas Gupta (34), while his injured nephew is Abhishek (13). Gupta was staying with his brother at Sonari village in Uran.
On Sunday evening, he had gone to Jasai on his motorcycle with his nephew to purchase household essentials. After shopping, they were returning home when the accident took place around 10 pm on the Dastan Phata-Karal Bridge road.
Gupta reportedly lost control of his motorcycle, causing both him and his nephew to fall into a roadside drain. They sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Uran, where doctors declared Gupta dead. His nephew, Abhishek, has been admitted to Panacea Hospital in Sonari for further treatment.
“Gupta’s family resided at his home town in Uttar Pradesh and he was staying with his brother. He was wearing helmet at the time of accident but he fell on his face with fatal injuries on his forehead and nose,” a police officer from Uran police station said.
