People adopt dogs, sometimes as a security measure to guard their premises from thieves. Many people vouch that dogs are loyal animals and they can even be trusted with the responsibility to keep watch and confront outsiders, preventing them from entering the premises. Contrary to general beliefs, a dog who was supposed to guard its owner was kidnapped outside a dental clinic near Khajua Chauraha under the Rudrapur Police station area in UP's Deoria.

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced online. After receiving a complaint from the pet owner, the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
According to reports, in the Rudrapur Kotwali area of Deoria district, there is a dental clinic at Khajua Chauraha. Dr. Mayank's residence is also located there. Dr Mayank had a Labrador dog, which was often left free at night.
On March 6, at around 11:45 PM, the dog, named Jackie, was sitting outside. At that moment, a white Bolero vehicle arrived and stopped near the clinic.
A man stepped out from the driver's seat of the Bolero. After getting down, he looked around and started petting the dog. When the dog did not bark at him, he opened the rear door of the vehicle and tried to make the dog get in. However, the dog did not climb in. The man then opened the middle seat of the car, held the dog's collar, and lifted it inside.
Even while being taken into the vehicle, the dog did not bark at him. After loading the dog into the car, the thief drove away. The entire incident was captured on the clinic's CCTV camera.
The dog's owner, Dr Mayank, stated that he had purchased the Labrador about nine years ago from Varanasi for ₹17,000. Since then, it had been his pet. Initially, it was kept tied up, but in recent days, it was left unrestrained. On March 6, too, the dog was left free, and during this time, the thief took it away.
A complaint regarding the theft has been lodged at the Rudrapur Kotwali police station.
