Marathwada Mitra Mandal's Shankarrao Chavan Law College in Pune recently hosted the much-anticipated "Seeds of Change - NGO Mela." Organised by Dr Renu Naidu, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunity Cell, in collaboration with Pooja Baghel, Coordinator of the Placement Cell, the event provided a vibrant platform for students to connect with a diverse range of NGOs and engage in meaningful discussions on pressing social issues.

"In today’s rapidly evolving world, such innovative initiatives are essential as they bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application, equipping students with the knowledge and experience needed to become proactive agents of change," said Naidu.

The Mela began with a warm welcome that set a collaborative tone for the day, with college leaders, including Principal Dr Kranti Deshmukh and Executive President BG Jadhav, showing their unwavering support.

Throughout the event, participating NGOs delivered concise 10-minute presentations outlining their vision, mission, key initiatives and available internship opportunities for BA LLB students. Organisations such as NCAS (National Centre for Advocacy Studies), CYDA (Centre for Youth Development and Activities), BAIF Development Research Foundation, Navkshitij Home for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, Apala Ghar (orphanage), SKF (Shivvardhan Knowledge Foundation), MASHAL (Maharashtra Social Housing and Action League), Do Save (focused on Environment, Road Safety, and Traffic Regulations), CEE (Centre for Environment Education), and Hope for Paws Foundation (dedicated to animal welfare) shared valuable insights and experiences.

Following the presentations, students had the opportunity to interact directly with NGO representatives at their respective stalls, gaining firsthand exposure to real-world challenges and exploring internship and volunteer opportunities. This hands-on engagement not only enriched their academic experience but also fostered a sense of social responsibility and practical understanding, critical for the legal professionals of tomorrow.

The Mela was an inspiring event that broadened the horizons of future legal experts, strengthened the collaboration between academia and civil society, and underscored the importance of innovative, experiential learning in today's dynamic world.
