Khushi Kapoor, last seen in Nadaaniyan alongside Ibrahim Ali Khan, was released on Netflix on Friday and has opened to disappointing reviews from the audience. Now, in a shocking turn of events, producer Boney Kapoor has announced a sequel to Sridevi's Mom, with the unexpected twist that Khushi will be playing the lead in it.
On Sunday, during the silver jubilee celebrations of IIFA 2025, Boney said, "I have watched all of Khushi's films. Archies, Loveyappa and Nadaaniyaan. I am planning a film with her too after No Entry. It would be a movie with Khushi. It could be Mom 2. She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her mother. Her mother was the top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi succeeded in this same level of perfection."
Soon after the announcement, netizens expressed disappointment, with many slamming the decision and stating that Khushi is the wrong choice for the Mom sequel.
A user wrote, "OMG please let this be a joke." Another user commented, "After Sridevi... khushi.. Whatt??? Ohh God." A third comment read, "How is this even fair at this point." "Khushi doesn't have any acting skills," read another comment.
A user also suggested casting: "Please take Yami Gautam, Kangana Ranaut, or Bipasha Basu; they would be great choices."
