Team India skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday cleared the air on his retirement talks after India's historic Champions Trophy victory. Rohit’s team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament to end India's 12-year wait for a major 50-over trophy.
In the lead-up to the final, there was considerable speculation about Rohit’s future in ODIs, with many wondering if he would retire from the format following the tournament.
However, the Indian skipper put all rumours to rest during the post-match press conference. He said "One more thing, I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure no rumors are spread moving forward," making it clear that he intends to continue playing ODI cricket.

Rohit's Milestone as Captain
With this victory, India became the first team to win the tournament three times, surpassing Australia’s two-title record. Additionally, Rohit Sharma joined MS Dhoni as only the second Indian captain to win multiple ICC white-ball trophies. He previously led India to T20 World Cup glory in 2024 in Barbados. Before him, MS Dhoni had won three ICC trophies, while Sourav Ganguly and Kapil Dev had each won one.
Under Rohit’s leadership, India became the first team in history to reach the final of all four major ICC tournaments consecutively:
2023 World Test Championship Final (Lost to Australia)
2023 ODI World Cup Final (Lost to Australia)
2024 T20 World Cup (Champions)
2025 Champions Trophy (Champions)
After suffering heartbreak against Australia twice in 2023, India staged a remarkable turnaround to win back-to-back ICC trophies
