Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Around 40 passengers, travelling to Maharashtra in a bus, had to face trouble after the traffic cops found the driver in an inebriated condition and seized the vehicle, police said on Monday. Later, the passengers were sent to their destinations in another bus.
A team of traffic subedar Kazim Rizvi, which was checking vehicles at Navlakha Square, stopped a bus going to Jalna (Maharashtra) via Burhanpur around 12.30 am. The driver was checked with a breath analyzer and was found under the influence of liquor.
He informed the police that he had consumed liquor with his friend a few hours ago. When the police officials were taking action and seizing the bus, the operator of the bus reached the spot and requested them to drop the passengers at Sarwate bus stand before seizing the bus.
A policeman was sent with the bus and it was seized after dropping the passengers at the bus stand. Later, the passengers were sent to their destinations in another bus.
Rizvi said that the bus driver was in an inebriated condition but still he was driving the bus, putting the lives of about 40 passengers at risk. A case under section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act was registered against the driver Vijay Singh of Khargone and the bus was parked in the premises of Azad Nagar police station.
