Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): With the retreat of icy winds, temperatures in Madhya Pradesh are rising rapidly, signaling the arrival of warmer days. The mercury has already crossed 36°C in several regions, with Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur divisions experiencing noticeable heat. According to IMD Bhopal, temperatures will rise further after March 15, making the summer heat more intense.
Over the past four days, cold northern winds led to a severe drop in temperatures, breaking a decade-old record in many cities, including Bhopal. Some regions witnessed cold wave conditions, and night temperatures plummeted to as low as 6°C. Small towns like Rajgarh, Shajapur, Umaria, Mandla, Naugaon, and Malanjkhand recorded the lowest temperatures. However, within a day, temperatures began to climb again.
In Bhopal, the night temperature saw a sharp rise of 5.9°C, reaching 16.4°C. Other cities, including Betul, Dhar, Guna, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Indore, Khandwa, Khargone, Pachmarhi, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Ujjain, Chhindwara, Damoh, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Naugaon, Rewa, Sagar, Satna, Seoni, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Umaria, and Malanjkhand, also witnessed temperature increases.
Daytime temperatures also rose on Saturday, with Narmadapuram recording 36.9°C, Ratlam at 36.2°C, and Dhar, Seoni, and Mandla at 35°C. Among major cities, Bhopal recorded 32.8°C, Indore 33.8°C, Gwalior 32.5°C, Ujjain 34.5°C, and Jabalpur 33.2°C.
Western Disturbance to Influence Weather
A new western disturbance is expected to become active over the Western Himalayan region from Sunday, potentially impacting Madhya Pradesh after two days. However, no significant rainfall is expected in the coming days.
Weather Forecast for the Next Two Days:
March 9: Day temperatures in Bhopal and other cities may rise by 2-3°C.
March 10: Both day and night temperatures will increase, with no chances of rain.

The first week of March witnessed a mix of hailstorms, rainfall, cold weather, and heat. Hail and rain were reported in Morena on the very first day of the month, followed by fluctuating temperatures and cold wave conditions, causing night temperatures to drop to 6°C in some areas.
April-May to be the Hottest Months
The Meteorological Department predicts that April and May will witness the peak of summer, with temperatures soaring beyond 45°C in districts of Gwalior, Chambal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions. Other regions, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram, will also experience extreme heat.

Analyzing data from the past 10 years, March in Madhya Pradesh is known for its contrasting weather, with cold nights, warm days, and occasional rain. This year, similar trends are expected. In Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain, daytime temperatures may cross 40°C, while night temperatures will hover between 10-17°C.
Gwalior is expected to experience the most erratic weather, with night temperatures dropping as low as 8°C, while Jabalpur will see warm days and cool nights. As the month progresses, temperatures will continue to rise, marking the transition from spring to summer in Madhya Pradesh.
