Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A man was arrested for killing a cloth merchant in his house in the Kalani Nagar area over a monetary dispute. Police claimed that the accused was arrested within 48 hours of the incident.

The accused had given money to the merchant to invest in gold but the latter did not return the money, so the accused strangled him to death and fled the scene. DCP (zone-1) Vinod Kumar Meena said that Sachin Chopra, a resident of Kalani Nagar area was found dead in his room on the second floor of his house on March 5.

In the short autopsy report, it was found that Sachin was strangled to death by an unidentified person. Preliminary investigation revealed that Sachin’s friend had come to meet him on March 4. His mother was aware about the friend but she did not recognise him, so it was a challenge for the police to identify the accused.

The team of Aerodrome police station in charge Tarun Singh Bhati started an investigation and more than 300 CCTVs of the area were examined. Police somehow managed to identify the accused as Rohit Raikwar, a resident of Devguradia area of the city and arrested him.

Raikwar allegedly informed the police that Sachin had told him that there was good profit in gold investment, so he had collected a huge amount from some people and given it to Sachin to invest.

The accused allegedly informed the police that people started asking for their money but Sachin did not return the money for a long time. He had gone to Sachin’s place on March 4 and demanded his money back but as he did not get a satisfactory reply, he strangled Sachin to death and fled the scene. Further investigation is on.
