Indore (Madhya Pradesh): To maintain peace during the Holi and Rang Panchami festivals, Indore Police conducted surprise checking and took action against over 900 criminals/antisocial elements and booked about 395 people for driving or riding vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

On the instruction of commissioner of police Santosh Singh, the DCPs constituted different teams and briefed them to start checking drives in the different areas of the city. During the drive, the police caught 395 people driving/riding vehicles under liquor influence and booked them under section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Their vehicles were also seized by the police.  

The police checking lasted till Saturday morning and about 1611 criminals/antisocial elements were checked in the city. Action was taken against 921 of them after finding their role in different criminal activities.  

About 382 warrants including 92 permanent, 113 arrest warrants and bailable warrants were executed by the police. 13 cases were registered against many people for consuming liquor in public places. Action was also taken against habitual criminals under the relevant sections of BNSS.

Also, preventive action was taken against some of them. The criminals involved in the crimes in the past were also checked and they were warned not to be involved in the crime in the city. The criminals involved in crime against women and damaging vehicles were also warned by the police.
