The case has been registered following investigation, which revealed that the girl ended her life after being harassed by the accused.

The accused exploited the girl sexually and was also pressurising her for flesh trade, sources said. The accused even humiliated her through casteist remarks. However, police registered an FIR for abetment to suicide under SC/ST Act.

According to reports, 20-year-old BTech student had committed suicide by consuming poison on Thursday evening. Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists staged protest at Chhola Mandir police station alleging that the girl was a victim of Love Jehad.

They produced video in which the victim before her death made allegations of harassment against one Saijan Khan and Kajal Singh. SI Shivendra Mishra said investigations revealed that Saijan Khan (28) and the victim used to work at salon of Kajal Singh in the city.

Saijan Khan who was a manager at the salon exploited the victim sexually. Saijan and Kajal then tried to force the victim into flesh trade but she refused. Recently, Saijan and the victim had opened their salon in partnership.

However, Saijan again pressurised her for flesh trade when they suffered loss in the business. Upset over continuous harassment, the girl committed suicide.

An FIR has been registered against Saijan Khan and Kajal and further action will be taken against them, police officials said. Police officials said victim’s mother married another man after her father’s death. She used to live with her maternal grandparents and worked at salon as she pursued her studies.
