Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh): A tense situation unfolded in Bhatpura, under the Malavar police station area of Narsinghgarh, when a joint police and revenue team attempted to clear encroachments on a public road on Saturday afternoon.
However, the team was forced to return empty-handed after farmers, armed with sticks and rods, confronted them. Amidst the commotion, a woman from the affected family reportedly swallowed a pesticide in distress and was immediately taken by police for medical treatment.
The farmers, including Sumitra Bai Puri and Ashok, vehemently denied the encroachment claims, asserting that the 36.5 bighas of land was their private property.
They accused the authorities of trying to block their access by removing the path and creating unnecessary conflict. The situation escalated as the encroachers alleged that the police had used force during the encounter.
The woman, in critical condition, was accompanied by her family to the Rajgarh SP office to file a complaint, but the SP was unavailable. The complainants also accused the authorities of failing to resolve the dispute and insisted that their property rights were being violated.
Malavar Police Station In-Charge, Rahul Raghuvanshi, confirmed that the police acted on the orders of the SDM and removed the encroachments, though the matter remains under investigation as the dispute continues.
