BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, who flew to Pakistan to watch the second semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025 between New Zealand and South Africa at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium, visited an ancient fort in Lahore, where there is an ancient samadhi of Lord Ram's son Lava.

Sharing the pictures of his visit on X, Rajeev Shukla said, "The name 'Lahore' is also derived from him (Lava). I had the opportunity to offer prayers there. Alongside me was Pakistan's Home Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who is overseeing the restoration of this samadhi. Mohsin had initiated this work during his tenure as chief minister."

In another post, he stated, "Lahore's municipal records state that the city was established in the name of Lord Ram's son, Lava, while the city of Kasur was named after his other son, Kush." "The Pakistan government also acknowledges this fact," said the BCCI vice-president.

Yesterday, Shukla said it is "very categorical and clear" that resumption of bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan is subject to the Indian government's clearance.

Speaking to media in Pakistan, Shukla acknowledged that fans from both countries (India and Pakistan) want to play bilateral matches on each other's soil and not at a neutral venue.

"We (BCCI) keep our point in front of the government but they decide after their deliberations. When the government takes a decision, it is after considering a lot of aspects. It is their internal matter," he said.
