New Delhi: Team India's star pace bowler Mohammed Shami was targeted by a Muslim cleric for "not keeping Roza" during the holy month of Ramadan. Maulana Shahabuddin Barelvi said that Shami had committed a sin by not keeping roza.

"In Islam, fasting is a duty... If someone deliberately skips the fast, they are sinners. Cricketer Mohammed Shami also didn't observe a fast; he has committed a sin. As per Sharia, he is a criminal," the Muslim Cleric said in a video message.
