Faridabad: A shocking incident has come to light from Sector-88's SRS Hills Society in Faridabad, where a 67-year-old man died by suicide after allegedly being beaten with slippers by his son and daughter-in-law.

The man, identified as Kuber Nath Sharma, reportedly jumped from the fifth floor of his building on February 22. During the investigation, police recovered a suicide note from his pocket, naming his son and daughter-in-law as the reason for his extreme step.

After recovering the note, the Bhupani police registered a case against the couple for abetment to suicide. As per a report by Hindustan Live, SHO Sangram Dahiya also confirmed that the case is being probed from multiple angles.

How Did the Incident Take Place?

Sharma, a retired foreman from a private company, lived with his son and daughter-in-law in Faridabad’s SRS Hills Society for the past three years. He had reportedly been ill for the past three years after leaving his elder son’s home in Ghaziabad.

Sharma's son works as a software designer in a Gurugram IT company, while the daughter-in-law is a school teacher.

According to the police, Sharma's son claimed in his statement that his father had gone for a walk after breakfast. He added that when he couldn’t find him later for lunch, he asked the society guard for help. Then he heard a very loud noise and ran to see his father, who had fallen from the fifth floor on a bicycle parked in an empty space on the campus.

As per the details available on Magic Bricks, the society is built on a 48-acre land and has a total of 12 towers.

Reportedly, Sharma was admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. However, he could not make it. The son told the police that his father had died by suicide because of his illness.

While the case was initially treated as suicide, further investigation revealed allegations of domestic abuse. Sharma's wife was away in their village at the time of the incident.

What Did the Suicide Note Mention?

After Sharma jumped from the fifth floor, police recovered a suicide note from his pocket. In it, he wrote, "Aatmahatya apne aap kar raha hoon, kisi be mujhe dhakka nahi diya hai. Beta aur bahu chappal se marenge toh jeene se achcha marna hai, isme kisi ka dosh nahi hai. Sab uppar wale ki marzi hai (I am committing suicide on my own, no one has pushed me. If my son and daughter-in-law hit me with slippers, then it is better to die than to live, no one is to blame for this. Everything is God's will)."

According to police officials, the accused son and daughter-in-law were also questioned in the preliminary investigation.

Forensic Examination of Suicide Note

SHO Sangram Dahiya said that after the February 22 incident, police recreated the crime scene and registered a preliminary case. The suicide note found in Sharma's pocket will be sent to a forensic lab for handwriting verification. As per reports, further action will depend on the forensic report.
