Central Railway celebrated International Women's Day with enthusiasm and jubilation on 5th March 2025 . A function to felicitate Women Employee Achievers of Central Railway was organised at CSMT under the aegis of Central Staff Benefit  Fund (CSBF). 

Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, Central Railway and Chief Guest of the function , in presence of Asha Meena, President, Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (CRWWO) and Guest of Honour, felicitated and presented the “ Sashakt Naari Puraskar” to 24 Women Employee Achievers of Central Railway from different departments and divisions including Technicians, Engineers, Office Superintendents, Train Managers, Assistant Loco Pilots, Nursing Superintendents,  Translators and Office Assistants.

In addition Sewing machines were presented to 10 Dependent Spouse (female) / Daughters and Bicycles were presented to 13 Dependent Unmarried Daughters of Railway Employees as part of the Women Empowerment Activities. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager and Chief Guest of the function said that, Indian culture & tradition has great respect for Women. Central Railway has women in various posts at all levels, right from  Officers to Track maintainers. 

Central Railway has the distinction of having the First All Women managed station on Indian Railways, viz Matunga, followed by Ajni and Amravati. 

Asia’s First Woman Loco Pilot Smt. Surekha Yadav is Central Railway’s pride.

Central Railway’s RPF Inspector, Rekha Mishra has rescued around 2000 lost and runaway children and has been felicitated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Central Railway also runs Ladies special trains for Women.

Women empowerment is absolutely essential for development of the Organisation and the Country and they have a big role to play in the Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat.

Dr. Sushma Matey, Medical Director, Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Byculla graced the occasion as Guest Speaker and urged women to stay active, have a balanced diet and take care of themselves, since the Family is healthy if the Woman is healthy. 

Earlier Saharsh Bajpai, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Central Railway and Chairman, CSBF presented the welcome address. 

 Pratik Goswami, Additional General Manager, Principal Head of Departments, Senior Officers of Central Railway, Office bearers of CRWWO and representatives of recognised Unions were also present during the occasion.
