In a tragic incident from Thane, a man from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao allegedly died by suicide after being harassed and blackmailed by his girlfriend, who is reportedly a married woman. The deceased, identified as Altaf, was said to be in an extramarital relationship with the woman.
Altaf recorded multiple videos showing his final moments, where he was seen slitting his wrists, hanging himself and consuming poison.
Before taking his life, Altaf recorded a series of heart-wrenching video messages, expressing his anguish. As quoted by NDTV, he said, "I have lived enough. No more. I will end myself like this. I am not acting, I am in pain, but you don’t understand it. I am playing with my own blood; this is not drama." In another clip, he is heard saying, "I am consuming rat poison. If anything happens, inform my family," before foam begins to appear in his mouth. One of the videos also shows his bloodied hand holding a blade.
Meanwhile, the woman was seen in visuals from Unnao defending herself, stating that no fault lay with her.
According to report in NDTV, Altaf worked as a tailor in Thane but returned to Unnao last year following his mother’s death. His family urged him to stay back and work there, but he soon became involved in an affair with a married woman from his neighborhood. Upon learning about the relationship, his family disapproved and sent him back to Thane.
According to the NDTV report, Maharashtra Police informed Altaf’s family about his death four days after the incident. His relatives immediately left for Thane and buried him there.
His sister, Reshma, alleged that the married woman had been harassing and blackmailing Altaf, ultimately driving him to take his own life. "We later found out that this woman was tormenting him. He was so distressed that he ended his life," she told NDTV.
