Former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has labelled current coach Aaqib Javed a clown after the latter blamed the constant change of coach and management as the reason behind the men's team struggles. In a story posted on Instagram, Gillespie also revealed that Javed tried to undermine Gary Kirsten consistently.
Gillespie and Kirsten resigned as coaches within a year of their appointment, citing disagreements the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials. After Kirsten stepped down, the former Australian speedster became the interim white-ball coach while remaining in-charge of the red-ball side. However, he resigned just before the Test series against South Africa.
During the press conference on Tuesday, the former Pakistan seamer said:
"We have changed nearly 16 coaches and 26 selectors in the last two years or so. You put that formula on any team in the world, I think they will also be in the same situation. Until you get consistency right from the top down to the bottom, from the chairman down, then your team will not progress.
In response to that, Gillespie posted an Instagram story and wrote:
"This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes campaigning to be the coach in all formats. He is a clown."
