Mumbai: The Airport Customs officials have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly smuggling Hydroponic Weed worth Rs 94 lakh from Bangkok. The contraband was stuffed with food items kept in the trolley bag of the passenger.
According to the Customs sources, on the night duty of 04.03.2024 Customs officers intercepted one passenger namely M.D. Shakib, on the basis of suspicion that he might be carrying some contraband items, after he arrived at CSMI Airport, Mumbai from Bangkok.
The Customs officers opened Shakib's trolly bag from which seven packets containing greenish coloured dry leafy substance in it was recovered. The said substance tested positive for Hydroponic Weed (Cannabis), a substance covered under NDPS Act. Total 943 grams of Hydroponic Weed was recovered from the accused.
Advocate Vinayak Shukla who represented the accused argued in the court after which the accused was granted bail.
