Team India secured their place in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 courtesy of their 4 wicket win over Australia on Tuesday, March 4th in Dubai. Following the win fielding coach T Dilip was seen introducing the contenders for the 'Fielder of the Match' Medal. One of the moment from the BTS video shared by BCCI saw Virat Kohli attempting bottle flip during the medal ceremony. The star batter however failed in his attempt to land the bottle perfectly on cupboard .

Who were the medal contenders during the ceremony?

Dilip announced four contenders for the medal Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Virat Kohli for their exceptional fielding efforts. Shreyas Iyer was awarded the medal for his outstanding fielding display. The middle-order batter played a crucial role in the semi-final, not only with the bat but also with his sharp fielding. His stunning direct-hit run-out of Alex Carey in the 48th over shifted the momentum in India's favour, restricting Australia to 264.

Kohli plays record breaking knock against Australia

Virat Kohli broke several records during his knock of 84 runs off 98 balls. The 36-year-old surpassed the 8000 run mark in ODI run-chases. The 36-year-old took 159 innings to achieve the milestone and is now the second batter in the sport's history to have more than 8000 runs while chasing in the 50-over format.

The former India skipper is the fastest to 8000 runs during run-chases, beating Sachin Tendulkar by a significant margin. Kohli reached the milestone after surpassing the 21-run mark. During his innings against Australia, Virat Kohli also surpassed Shikhar Dhawan in having the most runs for India in the Champions Trophy.
