Actress Ayesha Takia's husband Farhan Azmi made headlines on Tuesday after he was booked in Goa for getting into a street brawl and brandishing a gun in public. And now, the actress has claimed that her husband and 11-year-old son Mikhail were threatened and bullied for being from Maharashtra by "Goan goons", and Farhan only tried to protect himself.
Ayesha took to her Instagram to share a snippet about the news of her husband being booked, and wrote, "It was a night of horror for our family, up until this morning… my husband and son were brutally bullied and scared for their life as local Goan goons mobbed, threatened and tormented them for hours. They even badly roughed up the police who were called by my husband to protect our son and him (sic)."
Ayesha went on to say that Farhan was targeted as he is from Maharashtra. "The hatred for Maharashtra has reached unbelievable heights in Goa… as they repeatedly cursed Farhan and my son for being from Maharashtra and having a big car (sic)," she wrote.
"The police, in turn, have filed a complaint against Farhan, when he was the one in fact who dialled 100 for help against the large crowd of almost 150 people (sic)," she added.
In another Instagram story, Ayesha wrote, "We have video proof and evidence, including CCTV footage, which will be shared with competent authorities in due course of time. We are cooperating with the law enforcement agencies and we believe in justice of the system and our Indian courts (sic)."
All about the Farhan Azmi case
The Goan Police informed that they received a call on Monday night, around 11:15 pm, that a fight had broken out near the Candolim Beach in Goa, and on reaching the spot, they found Farhan brandishing his licensed gun at the rival group members.
When both the parties were taken to the police station, they refused to file complaints against each other. They were also sent for medical examination as per protocol, but Farhan and the others refused to get medically tested as well.
The cops said that Farhan provided a valid arms license and a permit to carry his gun around in Goa when he was questioned by the police.
Farhan is yet to issue a public statement on the incident.
