The CIDCO police busted a gang of vehicle thieves and arrested four members of the gang. The arrested individuals belong to well-to-do families and started stealing vehicles to gain quick and easy money, they confessed. They have been identified as Prathamesh Santosh Andure (21, Ramnagar), Akash Vijay Pagare (18, ZP Quarters, Naralibaug), Rupesh Raju Navpute (Sanjaynagar, Mukundwadi), and Aditya Rajendra Joshi (Kasliwal Purv Society, Chikalthana).
According to the details, Cidco police station PSI Pramod Devkate and his team were patrolling in the Cidco area on Sunday when they received information that two persons were coming to Connaught Place to sell a stolen motorcycle. The police team laid a trap and arrested Prathamesh Andure and Akash Pagare, who arrived on a KTM bike. During interrogation, they revealed that they had stolen the KTM bike from Pune.
Their accomplices, Rupesh Navpute and Aditya Joshi, had given them the bike to sell. They also confessed to parking another electric bike of the Athar company in the parking lot near the Railway Station area.
The police then arrested Rupesh and Aditya and seized four vehicles from them, including an Athar company’s electric bike worth Rs 60,000, a KTM bike worth Rs 1.50 lakh, a Royal Enfield bike worth Rs 2 lakh, and another Royal Enfield bike worth Rs 1 lakh, totaling Rs 5.10 lakh.
