Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Twenty-five female riders from across India set off on a 1400 km bike ride from Bhopal on Tuesday. Their mission is to promote Madhya Pradesh’s rich heritage trail. The event marks the second edition of the “Queen on the Wheels” campaign launched by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board.

Participants hail from Madhya Pradesh and other states, including Mumbai, Dehradun, Nagpur, Bengaluru, Delhi, Rajasthan, Indore, Dewas, Bhopal, and Ujjain. They will explore UNESCO World Heritage sites, experience rafting, kayaking, and enjoy heritage walks along the way.

The ride was inaugurated at 9 AM at Hotel Vince and Waves located in the Boat Club complex. Managing director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, waved the green flag to kick off the event. He highlighted that many tourism sites, hotels, resorts, homestays, cafés, and art and craft centers in the state are managed by women. The campaign aims to boost the profile of these establishments through the women’s bike tour.

The riders plan to visit several heritage sites until March 10, with the tour culminating at Kerwa Resort in Bhopal. The itinerary includes Sanchi and Chanderi on March 4, Gwalior on March 5-6, Mitawali, Padhavali, Datiya, and Orchha on March 7, Khajuraho on March 8, and Chhatarpur, Sagar, Sanchi, and Udaygiri on March 9, before returning to Bhopal on March 10 via Bhojpur and Bhim Baithka.
