Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the 42nd National Senior Rowing Championship at Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy, located on the Upper Lake in the city on Monday. He said that the event seems like a mini Simhastha in Bhopal. ‘Bhopal is adding charm to this game.
You must have visited many places but you would have rarely seen beauty like this. Different players have come from all over the country. It feels like a Mini Simhastha here,” the Chief Minister said. March past presentations on boat by international and national rowers from across the country left the audience spellbound.
More than 500 players from all over the country are participating in the championship. A total of 27 teams from across the country including 23 states and of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Services Sports Control Board are participating in the competition.
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang said that Madhya Pradesh has made a unique identity in the country in the field of water sports.
14 events to be held
Nearly 14 events will be organised in the tournament, which also includes 2 events - Para Single Scull Women’s and Men’s category. All the finals of 14 events will be held on March 7 in which seven events will be held in the morning and seven in the evening. All competitions will be held at a distance of 2000 metres.
