Mumbai: Advocate Prithviraj Adik, son of late deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Ramrao Adik, has filed an FIR at Marine Drive police station against cardiologist Dr Lekha Pathak accusing her of cheating and 21 other offences under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). When contacted by FPJ on Monday, Dr Pathak said she was not aware of the matter and would not like to comment on it.

The FIR was registered following an order passed by K.S. Zanwar, additional chief judicial magistrate, Esplanade, under section 156 (3) of the CrPc. Adik Jr has stated in the FIR that his father married Shobha in 1948 after which two sons and a daughter were born out of wedlock. Adik Sr passed away on August 30, 2007 at the age of 78 following prolonged illness.

The complainant said since his father was having heart-related problems and was being treated by Dr Pathak. Over a period of time Adik Sr and Dr Pathak entered into a live in relationship and stayed separately in an apartment in Bandra with the full knowledge of the Adiks.

After the demise of Ramrao Adik, Dr Pathak reportedly called a meeting with the Adiks wherein they were informed about the late leader's will. Since the Adiks had suspicions about the will, Shobha Adik moved the Bombay high court against Dr Pathak. Subsequently, a mutual settlement was reached.

However, later Adik Jr found that the pension to which his father was entitled to as a former legislator was being credited to the account of Dr Pathak. An RTI application revealed that on December 10, 2007 Dr Pathak had written to the principal secretary of the state legislature in which she claimed to be the wife of Ramrao Adik whom she married in 1962 and had two children viz Suresh and Prithviraj. She further claimed that all of them were living in flat no. 901, Le Pappilon building Mount Mary Road, Bandra (W).

Adik Jr alleged that all the documents submitted by Dr Pathak to lay claim to the pension were false and fabricated. He reiterated that he and his late brother Suresh were the children of Shobha Adik and Dr Pathak was not their mother. He alleged that from December 10, 2007 onwards till date Dr Pathak has been receiving the pension and thereby has cheated his family and Maharashtra government.
