Fraudulent RTE Admissions and Actions Taken
Over the past few years, there have been many instances of fraudulent RTE admissions. In the last year, 200 students had their admissions cancelled because of fake income certificates. In Ahmedabad, 140 parents were caught with forged documents, and the District Education Officer (DEO) acted quickly.
Cancellation of Fraudulent Admissions
In November 2023, DEO revoked the fake admissions, giving a chance to deserving students to get an opportunity. Furthermore, a probe by five schools in Ahmedabad triggered suspicions regarding 308 students who obtained RTE admissions unlawfully by producing fake documents and furnishing false details.
The DEO initiated an inquiry in January 2024, and hearings were held with the concerned parents. In mid-February 2024, following proper investigations, 170 of these admissions were cancelled.
