Mumbai: The Central Railway’s Mumbai Division is introducing additional amenities at stations in Mumbai to enhance passenger safety and comfort. This initiative includes improved facilities for differently-abled individuals (Divyangjan) across various stations throughout the city.
Recently, Central Railway (CR) announced the provision of additional amenities at stations, with major upgrades planned for Karjat and Kalyan stations and other stations in Navi Mumbai as reported by Mumbai Live. This initiative aims to facilitate hassle-free travel for commuters. The improvements include commissioning two escalators at Platform No. 1 of Karjat Station, located at the Kalyan end of the Foot Over Bridge.

Passenger Lift Installation at Shelu Station
A lift has been installed at Platform No. 1 of Shelu Station, located at the Karjat end of the Foot Over Bridge. This lift, along with escalators, will greatly benefit senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, and pregnant women.
New GPS Clocks at Sandhurst Road Station
Four new GPS clocks have been installed at Sandhurst Road Station, improving time visibility for passengers.
Improved Suburban Train Indicators
The old suburban train indicators have been upgraded for better visibility at Ghansoli, Rabale, and Airoli stations.
New All-in-One Video Display Indicators
All-in-one video display indicators have been installed at the Ulhasnagar, Vangani, and Neral stations to provide better communication.
Replacement of Public Announcement System Speakers
The outdated public announcement system speakers at Ulhasnagar Station have been replaced with new, modern ones to ensure clear and effective communication.
GPS Clocks, Improved Indicators, and Modern PA System
The installation of GPS clocks, improved train indicators, and a modern public announcement system at various stations will significantly enhance the communication of train running information to passengers.
Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs)
A total of 575 new Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) have been installed across 86 stations in the Mumbai Division, with an additional 226 ATVMs already in the procurement process. These machines provide quick ticketing solutions, allowing passengers to avoid long queues at ticket windows.
New Buzzers for Differently-Abled Passengers
170 new buzzers have been installed across stations on the Main and Harbour lines to assist differently-abled passengers. These buzzers help visually impaired individuals identify designated areas for Divyangjan.
