Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A little over 4,000 people were given anti-rabies injections and tetanus at the Lal Hospital here after being bitten by animals. Of these, most of the shots were given to those bitten by dogs while a little more than 200 victims were attacked by cats, monkeys, rats, horses, donkeys, and insects.
According to Dr Ashutosh Sharma of the hospital, a total of 4,239 people received anti-rabies and tetanus injections during February. Out of these, 4,024 cases were of stray dog bites, while 215 victims were bitten by other animals – 137 by cats, 36 by monkeys, and 42 by insects, horses, or donkeys.
In comparison, 4,435 people suffered from dog bites in January. Looking back at February in 2024, 4,025 cases were due to dog bites, while cats bit 76 people, monkeys 31, and other creatures, including insects, bit 55 individuals. The consistently high number of cases highlights the menace of stray animals and the urgent need for effective control measures.

Lok Adalat Awareness Marathon Witnesses Active ParticipationIndore (Madhya Pradesh): A mediation and Lok Adalat awareness marathon was organized at the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court on Sunday.
The marathon aimed to promote awareness about Lok Adalat and mediation, emphasizing their role in providing speedy and cost-effective justice to the public. The event began with registration at 7 AM, followed by the flag-off at 7:30 AM.
The marathon, organized under the guidance of Justice Vivek Rusia, chairman of the High Court Legal Services Committee (Indore), along with other dignitaries from the high court, started from the court campus and followed a route covering Lantern Square, Zanjeerwala Square, Industry House, Geeta Bhavan, Madhumilan Square and Regal Square before ending on the high court campus.
The event witnessed active participation of high court and district court judges, administrative officials, police officers, advocates, panel lawyers, para-legal volunteers and law students.
