Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 22-year-old young woman slipped while boarding a moving train and got stuck in the gap between the train and the platform at the city railway station on Sunday. She and her friend were going to Sehore when the mishap occurred.
Fortunately, a constable of the Government Railway Police (GRP) saved her in the nick of time. Chetna Dusane, a resident of Sajan Nagar area in the city and permanent resident of Burhanpur, is employed in a company in the city. She and her friend Vijay were going to Sehore to visit Kubereshwar Dham.
They reached the city railway station and when Chetna was trying to board the intercity express train at 6.30 am, she slipped from the moving train and got stuck in the gap between the platform and the train. The train was stopped immediately as one of the passengers pulled the chain.
Seeing the incident, GRP constable Chetan Narwale reached there and somehow managed to extricate her. Narwale waited for an ambulance for some time and later he and Chetna’s friend took her to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
Narwale informed the Free Press that had there been a slight delay in extricating the young woman, a major accident could have occurred. Chetna sustained fractures in the backside and is undergoing treatment in a city hospital. She is said to be out of danger.
Her parents were shocked after learning about the accident. They reached the city and thanked Narwale after meeting their daughter in the hospital. Narwale said that he had saved eight people at the railway station in the city so far.
