Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A large number of sub-inspectors (SIs), inspectors and DSPs (Deputy Superintendents of Police) will be transferred after the conclusion of the state assembly session. Officials said that those with a clean service record will be given field postings, while those with a tainted image will be removed from active duty.

Data on police officers posted in the field for the last decade has been collected. The officers with a poor reputation or those currently under investigation will be shunted out first.

The DGP had earlier sent a letter requesting detailed data on the SIs, inspectors and DSPs who have served in a district for more than 10 years. This letter was addressed to the Director General of Lokayukta and EOW, all zonal ADGs, IGPs, DIGs, as well as commissioners of police in Bhopal and Indore, and heads of various police units, requesting them to prepare and send reports within a week.

Sources said that DGP Kailash Makwana had instructed administration and CID branches to compile a list of officers who are under departmental inquiry or have been removed due to negligence. If any serious complaints have been received against an officer, and there is even a slight basis for the claim, those officers are also being included in the report.

The DGP is expected to review these reports district-wise, examining the records of police officers at every level, down to the police station level. This review will assess the performance of inspectors and sub-inspectors posted at police stations in various districts.

When it comes to transfers of IPS officers and state police service officers, the administration will ensure that officers with a negative image will be kept away from field duties. The same criteria will be applied to inspectors and sub-inspectors, meaning that many of them may be removed from field postings if their records are found to be unsatisfactory.
