Actor Suniel Shetty recently recalled the time when he was held at gunpoint in the US due to his appearance. He shared that the incident happened only days after the 9/11 attack and that there was a grave misunderstanding due to which the cops had handcuffed him.

Speaking to Chanda Kochhar, Shetty stated that he was shooting for the film Kaante back then and he had a peculiar jawline beard for the film, which worked against him in the situation. He shared that he had forgotten his keys at a hotel in Los Angeles, post which he sought help from an American man, but instead, he created a stir.

"The cops came in from the street, gunmen, and they said ‘down or we shoot'. I didn’t know what was happening. So I had to go down on my knees. They handcuffed me... Me being taken at gunpoint, because I had this beard," he recalled.

Shetty shared that it was then that the film production team reached the spot and a Pakistani man at hotel recognised him and told the cops that he was an actor. "All that we’ve been through that time, it was insane. I didn’t know what was going to happen next because there was so much commotion and my beard was that jawline beard," he stated.

Shetty added that he made a gesture for the keys which the American man must have misunderstood, and that is what resulted in the commotion.

On the work front, Shetty will be next seen in the film Kesari Veer, co-starring Sooraj Pancholi, Vivek Oberoi, Akanksha Sharma, and others. He will also be seen sharing the screen with his Border co-star Pooja Bhatt in an action-thriller scheduled to release on Lionsgate Play.
