Mumbai: In a significant move towards smart mobility and digital transformation, passengers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai can now utilise an automated digital payment system for smooth entry and exit at the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP).
This cashless payment system aims to streamline the payment process, reduce wait times, and offer a hassle-free parking experience. All customer lanes at the MLCP are equipped with FASTag counters to further speed up the entry and exit process.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) encourages passengers who still prefer cash payments to consider adopting new digital payment options. This initiative aligns with the Government of India's Digital India campaign and offers various payment methods, including debit cards, credit cards, UPI, mobile wallets, and other online platforms.
FASTag holders can benefit from an automated parking process. Currently, 66 per cent of users at CSMIA’s Multilevel Car Park (MLCP) prefer using FASTag as their primary payment method, while 10-15 per cent choose UPI or debit/credit cards, and 5 per cent pre-book parking slots. Overall, 85 per cent of passengers are opting for cashless transactions, as reported by Mumbai Live.
A CSMIA spokesperson mentioned, “Mumbai Airport continues to set new benchmarks in smart airport solutions, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and sustainability through digital innovation. The shift to a digital payment system at the MLCP underscores our commitment to providing a modern, efficient parking experience'' as per media reports.
