Considering the increased accidents on the Golwadi Phata to Kaigaon border, a drive to remove the encroachment in this area was initiated by the orders of the Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Regional Transport Board, PWD, World Bank Project, and district police administration jointly on Thursday. The drive to remove the encroachment from Golwadi Phata to Pandharpur started on Thursday morning.

The shopkeepers and the residents were served notices about removing the encroachment by themselves around 20 days ago. The actual drive to remove the encroachment began on Thursday at around 11:30 am. The anti-encroachment squad, including the officers, employees, and workers, arrived at the spot, and there was chaos among the residents. The officers gave time to the small shopkeepers to remove their goods immediately before the drive was initiated. However, the solid concrete constructions were destroyed with the help of a JCB. The drive will continue even on Friday until the road is cleared of the encroachment from Golwadi Phata and Old Kaigaon border, the officers said.

The World Bank Project junior engineer Harish Garje, Kanchan Padwal, junior engineer Akshay Tandale, Abhijeet Chaudhary, Raju Pachpure, Ganesh Raut, traffic branch PI Sachin Ingole, PSI Vitthal Ghodke, Jaikishan Chauthe, Mangesh Manore, and others participated in the drive.
