Mumbai: A shocking case of blackmail came to light in Mumbai on Tuesday when a 24-year-old man was accused of threatening to release private videos of his ex-colleague and forcing her to have sex with him.
The woman filed a complaint in her hometown, Jalgaon, and the case was later transferred to Bhiwandi, where the incident took place. The name of the accused was Aftab Kalamuddin, 24, who met the 22-year-old woman in 2020 when they both worked at the same office for three years.
According to the victim, They were friends, but they were not romantically involved. They became physically intimate on one occasion, but she clarified that she did not want a relationship with him. According to the woman's statement, she had no idea that Kalamuddin had secretly recorded videos of her. Over a year, he used these videos to blackmail her into having sex with him.
A police officer mentioned that the victim woman travelled to Jalgoan to share the matter with her family, and with the support of the family she filed a complaint against Kalamuddin, as per reports by Hindustan Times.
As per the reports, Kalamuddin was held under section 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), and 75 (sexual harassment) and BNS, 2023. The police have recovered videos of the victim from the accused.
The police officer said that ''the accused has been remanded to police custody for two days''.
Meanwhile, similar incident of blackmailing happened in Mumbai's Andheri area on February 24, where a 27-year-old woman allegedly faced threats from her colleague regarding the circulation of her private photos.
The accused, 28-year-old Naveen Kumar Singh, was arrested by the MIDC Police after the woman filed a complaint of extortion and molestation. The case was reported against Singh and further investigations are underway.
