A Japanese woman was summoned by South Korean police after she allegedly kissed Jin, a member of the K-pop group BTS, without consent during a free hug event in 2024. The woman was called at Seoul's Songpa police station over an allegation of sexual harassment. Her identity has not been revealed by the police officials yet.

According to a report in AP, the police station announced that it had initiated an investigation following an online complaint but declined to disclose further details, citing the ongoing inquiry.

South Korean police reportedly identified the woman with assistance from Japanese authorities. The reports further stated that the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was refusing to cooperate with questioning.

During the gathering, which reportedly drew around 1,000 attendees, a woman unexpectedly kissed Jin on the cheek. Viral video footage captured the moment, showing Jin appearing visibly uncomfortable.

According to Yonhap news agency, the woman later wrote in an online blog post, "My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft."

The videos of the incident have gone viral on social media platforms.

A day after completing his mandatory 18-month military service in June 2024, Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, marked his discharge and BTS's 11-year anniversary by offering free hugs to fans at an event in Seoul.

Jin, 32, is the oldest member of the band, which was created in 2013 and has millions global supporters who call themselves the 'Army'.

Meanwhile, Jin recently took the internet by storm with his latest appearance at the Gucci Fall-Winter 2025/2026 showcase at Milan Fashion Week. The singer turned heads in a chic, luxe ensemble earlier this week. Dubbed 'Worldwide Handsome' by his adoring fans, Jin's latest appearance proved once again why he remains a fashion idol.
