Patna: Jehanabad's Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan primary teacher Dipali Sah was suspended after a video of her offensive remarks went viral. In the unverified footage, Sah expressed her discontent regarding her posting in Bihar, labeling it "India's worst region."

She shared her envy towards friends placed in more favored areas like Darjeeling and Silchar, asserting that she deserved a location such as Goa or Himachal Pradesh. Furthermore, she criticized the civic sense of Bihar’s residents, repetitively stating "zero civic sense," and controversially suggested that Bihar's association with India hindered its development. She also blamed the condition of Indian Railways on the lack of civic responsibility among Biharis.

The backlash was swift, with Samastipur MP Shambhavi Choudhary condemning Sah's remarks in a letter to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan's commissioner, describing her comments as "inappropriate, unacceptable, and unbecoming of an educator." She called for strict action against Sah to uphold the integrity of educational institutions and address the hurt feelings of Bihar's citizens, asserting such statements undermine regional pride.

In response to the fallout, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) promptly suspended her, confirming the action based on Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965. This incident highlights the sensitivity of regional identities in India, particularly in Bihar, and emphasizes the expected conduct of educators as role models, reinforcing the need for respect towards communities they serve. Sah's suspension serves as a cautionary message to others in the educational field regarding disparaging remarks.

A recent incident involving Deepali Sah, a teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jehanabad, Bihar, has provoked public outrage after a viral video surfaced in which she made derogatory comments about Bihar and its residents. Frustrated with her assignment in Jehanabad instead of preferred locations like Ladakh or Goa, Sah questioned her posting, making inflammatory remarks, including claims that Biharis show "zero civic sense" and that Bihar's conditions hinder India's development. She controversially stated that excluding Bihar would make India a "developed nation," showcasing a lack of respect for both her profession and the community she insulted.

This incident drew significant criticism, with many shocked that a teacher, viewed as a role model, would exhibit such unprofessional behavior. Sah's actions not only jeopardized her integrity but also negatively impacted the teaching profession's image.

In response, the principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ravindra Ram, indicated that Sah considers the situation personal and opted not to comment extensively, although he reported the issue to higher authorities. She assured that if misconduct is established, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. The Bihar Police, responding to social media outcry, announced an investigation into the matter.
