Mumbai: On the account of World NGO Day, Reliance Foundation has announced collaboration with Akshaya Chaitanya, to provide 1,50,000 meals daily to students studying in government schools and the caretakers of patients in government hospitals by the end of 2026.

Currently, Akshaya Chaitanya serves meals across 102 municipal schools and 32 government hospitals in Mumbai, positively impacting thousands every day. With an ambitious vision for the future, the collaboration between Akshaya Chaitanya and Reliance Foundation, aims to expand its outreach, striving to provide 1.50 lakh meals daily by the end of 2026.

This initiative addresses the issue of food insecurity by prioritizing two critical fronts of providing meals to municipal school children and extending nutritional support to hospital patients’ families. Through this initiative, underprivileged students gain access to essential nutrients, supporting their physical and cognitive growth. Simultaneously, it relieves families struggling with financial burdens while caring for hospitalized loved ones, ensuring they, too, have access to safe and hygienic meals.

Vikas Parchhanda, CEO of Akshaya Chaitanya, said, “At Akshaya Chaitanya, we firmly believe that nutritious food is a fundamental right, not a privilege. This partnership amplifies our shared vision of eradicating hunger, ensuring that no child or struggling family in Mumbai’s hospitals is left without nourishment. On this World NGO Day, we call upon society—businesses, individuals, and institutions—to unite in this mission because no child should ever go to bed hungry."
