Kolkata: Amid chants of ‘Abar Khela Hobe’ (We will play again), Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday had held an organizational meeting at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata to discuss strategy for 2026 state Assembly elections and warned people of fake voters being brought in by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“The BJP had hatched a conspiracy to revise the electoral rolls packed with outsiders just to capture Bengal like they did in Maharashtra, Delhi and Haryana. I have proof that they have enrolled names of people residing in Haryana, Gujarat and other places as voters of Bengal. Booth workers should immediately start verifying the voters’ list physically. District presidents should oversee the process and give back feedback within seven days,” said Mamata.

BJP would be gravely mistaken if they think Bengal is just another stop on their conquest map, another Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, or Uttar Pradesh to subjugate. Bengal has never bowed. Bengal has never… pic.twitter.com/kEAYAEn2KT
Notably, Mamata had also announced a high-level committee comprising MPs, MLAs, and other leaders to oversee the voter list verification process.
The West Bengal Chief Minister, slamming the past slogans of the saffron camp urged everyone to work together in order to return to power with absolute majority.
“We will achieve a two-thirds majority, but you must ensure an even bigger victory. This time, BJP nominees must lose their deposits. Earlier in the 2021 Assembly elections they said ‘Aab ki baar 200 paar’ but they got only 77 seats. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections they said ‘Aab ki baar 400 paar’ but didn’t get an absolute majority. I agree with Abhishek Banerjee, TMC should get more seats than 214 which we got in the last state Assembly elections,” further mentioned Mamata.
