Indore (Madhya Pradesh): “Food provided in schools under the mid-day meal scheme should be nutritious and according to the prescribed menu. Also, its quantity shouldn’t be less than that prescribed by the government,” said Siddharth Jain, CEO of the District Panchayat, on Wednesday.

Jain was addressing a joint workshop of self-help group members running the mid-day meal scheme in all CM Rise and PM Shri schools of the district, representatives of the institutions providing mid-day meals, and mid-day meal in-charges of schools.

The workshop was held at the District Panchayat Hall.  In the workshop, all the self-help groups were made aware of the criteria set by the government for mid-day meals. They were given detailed information regarding the quality of the food provided by them.

During the workshop, the group was made aware in detail about how critical a clean kitchen was, precautions to be taken while preparing mid-day meals, and all safetymeasures. The self-help groups were directed to compulsorily register for important government schemes such as National Rural Livelihood Mission and Urban Livelihood Mission, so that they can avail their benefits.

The self-help groups catering to CM Rise and PM Shri Vidyalayas were instructed that they have to adopt the prescribed dress code.

During the workshop, the groups were also informed about the problems faced in the operation of the mid-day meal scheme and they were resolved.

The mid-day meal in-charge project officer from the District Panchayat, District Project Manager of Rural Livelihood Mission, and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan officer were also present in the workshop.
