Thane: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) chief, Indu Rani Jakhar, suspended Assistant Municipal Commissioner (AMC) Sandeep Rokade for accusations of failing to prevent illegal constructions in the Manda-Titwala area within the jurisdiction of Ward A of the KDMC.

According to the civic officials, the AMC failed to prevent illegal structures in Manda Titwala. However, a large number of illegal constructions continued in the area. No action has been taken by the concerned officer despite several complaints received.

Vandana Gulwe, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of KDMC, said, "The proposal for the suspension of Sandeep Rokade was received by the department regarding the lack of action on illegal structures taken by AMC over the past few days. The KDMC chief, Indu Rani Jakhar, received the report and ordered the suspension of Rokade due to negligence in his work."

According to the civic officials, Rokade did not take any action against the illegal structures that were going on in the area, except for issuing notices to them.

"The Assistant Municipal Commissioner is posted in the area to prevent illegal constructions. Action is being taken against the AMC if senior civic officials find negligence in their work. Following this, senior officials make a report and dispatch it to their superiors for further action" said civic officer of KDMC.
