Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, have been making headlines recently following reports of their rumoured divorce, which surfaced on Tuesday (February 25). While the couple has remained tight-lipped about the divorce, their family members have dismissed the reports.
Now, Govinda's lawyer, who is also the actor's family friend, told India Today that Sunita had filed for divorce about six months ago, but the couple later resolved their differences and are now back together.
The lawyer clearly stated that they are not getting divorced. He also said that they stay together.
"We also travelled to Nepal during the New Year and performed puja together at Pashupati Nath Mandir. Everything is fine between them now. Such things keep happening between couples, but they are going strong and will always be together," he informed the news portal.
Refuting reports that Govinda and Sunita live in separate apartments, the advocate clarified that the actor had purchased the bungalow after becoming an MP for official use, and it is located just opposite the flat where the couple has lived since their marriage.
He explained that while Govinda occasionally attends meetings and sometimes stays overnight at the bungalow, the couple continues to live together.
Further dismissing the social media buzz, the lawyer stated that excerpts from Sunita's podcasts and public appearances are being selectively taken out of context and are being used against the couple.
Meanwhile, after reports went viral that Govinda and Sunita were set to end their 37 years of marriage, the former's secretary Shashi told ABP that they were just baseless and exaggerated claims. "Sunita must have given some interviews, and someone must have exaggerated her words, which is why such news is spreading," he said.
Govinda and Sunita tied the knot on March 11, 1987, and have two children, Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan.
