IIT GATE 2025: Marking scheme

Each examination paper in the GATE 2025 exam comprises sixty-five questions and a total mark of 100. The General Aptitude (GA) component receives 15 marks from a possible 100 in the exam, distributed evenly throughout all test papers. The subject-specific data is scored 85 out of 100. Engineering Mathematics is worth 13 marks in the majority of exams (AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, ES, GE, IN, ME, MN, MT, NM, PE, PI, and TF).

The mandatory element XE-A (Engineering Mathematics) of the XE paper is worth 15 points. Other papers (AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL) include a subject element worth 85 points.

IIT GATE 2025: Exam details

The GATE 2025 test began on February 1, 2, 15, and 16 in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. The exam was separated into two sessions: the morning session (9:30 AM to 12:30 AM) and the afternoon session (2:30 PM to 3:30 PM).
