Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday clarified her ‘Mrityu Kumbh’ statement. Talking to the media, Mamata said that Maha Kumbh happens after 12 years.
“Those who are saying that the Maha Kumbh took place after 144 years are not telling the truth. Maha Kumbh also took place in 2014, I think. I am not saying anything against those who took holy dip there but I just mentioned that due to lack of planning several people have lost their lives. My statements are being distorted,” said Mamata.

West Bengal Chief Minister further said that she had given the clearance to the proposal to give on lease land lying with six tea gardens for development of tourism centres and homestays in North Bengal.
“With this tourism will increase. Some of the six tea gardens either were closed due to technical problems or the workers were not getting their wages. Those who will take the lands will have to give 80 per cent jobs to the local people. We have decided to give the lands on lease for three years. The tea plantations should not get affected,” further mentioned Mamata.
However, on Sunday, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that the decision of giving lease to the land of the tea garden will put an ‘end’ to the tea industry in the state.
