Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the 2025-26 budget has announced a series of ambitious projects to boost tourism in the city. Accordingly a City Tourism Plan is planned to promote economic growth and attract visitors.

One of the major attractions provisioned in the budget  is a Marina Park along the creekside “NMMC will provide the necessary infrastructure to bring this project to life. Additionally, recognizing the ecological importance of Navi Mumbai’s vast mangrove forests, a Mangrove Park will be developed in collaboration with the Forest Department to promote conservation and environmental awareness,” said an official

Administration in the budget has also proposed establishing a museum likewise an aquarium spanning 7,773.68 square meters in Nerul, Sector 28. . “This modern facility, a joint project between NMMC and the Fisheries Department, will not only boost tourism but also serve as an educational center for students to learn about marine life,” said the official.

In the budget the infrastructure enhancements at Gavlidev and Sulaidevi tourist sites comprising new walkways, gazebos, street lighting, and drinking water facilities are also proposed to be undertaken in the expenditure head of the budget for the year 2025-26. .

Another major development to look out for will be an open-air theater in Ghansoli, Sector 8, Plot No. 22. Officials informed that the space originally reserved for a Folk Arts Center, the 3,542.28 sq. meter plot has now been transferred to NMMC. “The upcoming theater complex will feature an entrance lobby, parking for 127 cars, a 350-seat mini-theater, a 350-seat orchestra pit, an open amphitheater, green rooms, a rehearsal hall, and multipurpose cultural halls. The project is currently in the tender approval stage,” said the official.

Additionally, the construction work of the new theater in Airoli is stated to be completed by September 2025. 

With these initiatives, Navi Mumbai is set to emerge as a vibrant destination for tourism, recreation, and cultural engagement, enhancing the city’s identity while offering residents and visitors new experiences.
