Mumbai: A cement mixer truck driver was arrested in Bhandup on Sunday for allegedly running over a stray dog. The Bhandup police identified the driver as Gulabchandra Maurya (32) and booked him for reckless and negligent driving.
According to police reports, the incident occurred near the Rudraksh Tower construction site on the Mulund-Goregaon Link Road, where a concrete mixer truck fatally injured a stray dog.
According to Police, Heena Govind Solanki (30), a Mulund resident and executive assistant at Utkarsh Global Foundation, an NGO dedicated to animal welfare, filed a complaint with the police.
Solanki stated that while leaving her office, she found the injured dog covered in blood near the construction site. Upon inquiring, a laborer at the site confirmed that the dog was run over by the mixer truck driver. Following the complaint, Bhandup police arrested Maurya and are conducting further investigations.
