Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, addressing the first assembly session, congratulated Vijender Gupta after he was elected as the Speaker of the eighth Assembly. She said, "I have full faith that this assembly will run smoothly under your guidance." She added, "As the Leader of Opposition, you have faced several issues, you were marshalled out several times and faced difficult behavior, but I am sure that you will run this house smoothly."

Meanwhile, the AAP has accused the newly-formed government of having an 'anti-Dalit mentality.' Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Atishi, addressed the media and claimed that the BJP has removed Dr. BR Ambedkar's and Shaheed Bhagat Singh's portraits from the Chief Minister's office.

"The anti-Dalit mentality of the Bharatiya Janata Party is well known. Today, a proof of its anti-Dalit mentality has been presented. Arvind Kejriwal had put up photos of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh in every office of the Delhi government. Since the BJP has come to power, they have removed both these photos from the Chief Minister's office. This shows that the BJP is an anti-Dalit, anti-Sikh party," she said.

Earlier today, the AAP MLAs led by Atishi protested outside the Delhi CM's office in the Assembly, demanding the fulfillment of its promise of giving Rs 2,500 to women.
