The Shanti Nagar Police booked six persons for allegedly gang raping a 22-year-old woman in Bhiwandi on Thursday.
According to the police, the gang rape occurred in a pickup vehicle on Thursday. The victim went to her aunt's house in Bhiwandi, where she received a call from her brother asking her to come to a certain place because he was unwell. Following this, the victim called an auto-rickshaw driver and headed towards where her brother was waiting for her. All the accused allegedly beat her brother and the auto driver, and they all sat in the auto rickshaw and went to an isolated place where they took the victim to an isolated area where they raped her in a pickup vehicle while her brother and the auto driver were caught by them at that time.
The police said that the victim, along with his brother, approached the Bhiwandi taluka police station and filed an FIR against them under various sections of 64(2)(D), 70(1), 3(5), and 115(2) of the Bhartiya Nyan Sanhita. Following the investigation, it was learned that the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Shanti Nagar Police Station. Subsequently, a case was transferred.
The investigation officer said that the victim and the accused, had a romantic relationship for the last five to six years. The relationship had broken up for the last four to five months. Following the breakup, the accused became furious with her and took drastic steps to commit the offense. During the investigation, police learned that all the accused had beaten her brother and forced him to call his sister (the victim) to come and meet him. Later, the accused and his gang took her to an isolated place where they allegedly raped her. Vinayak Gaikwad, Police Inspector from Shanti Nagar Police Station, said, "So far, we have arrested two accused. We have launched a manhunt for the rest of the accused."
