Warriors clinched a three-wicket victory against Meri Cricket Club Blue in the Late Kishor Suryawanshi (LKS) Trophy in Nashik on Friday.
Warriors surpassed the target of 153/7 in 19.5 overs. Tejas Pawar played a crucial all-round role, scoring a steady 46 off 36 balls and delivering a stellar bowling performance, claiming two wickets for just 12 runs in four overs.
R. Bhore provided the much-needed firepower with a blistering 51 off 34 balls, ensuring Warriors stayed in the hunt. On the bowling front, M. Patel contributed with two wickets for 34 runs in four overs.
In another LKS Trophy match, Balaji Social Foundation secured a thrilling victory over RPCC, chasing down 161 in 19.5 overs with five wickets in hand. Gopal Waghmare led the charge with a commanding 69 off 53 balls, supported by S. Mohammad’s crucial 28 runs and a quickfire 22 off 13 balls from M. Rathod, which ensured a successful chase.
On the bowling front, A. Vishwakarma played a key role, picking up two wickets for 31 runs in four overs, restricting RPCC to 158/6 in 20 overs. The match went down to the wire, but Balaji Social Foundation held their nerves to emerge victorious in a thrilling contest.
Lalbatti Mandal dominate against Jay Bajrang Krida Mandal
Lalbatti Mandal dominated their clash against Jay Bajrang Krida Mandal, securing a commanding 41-22 victory in the Sambhaji Chashak 2025, organised by the Mumbai Upanagar Kabaddi Association in Kandivali. Shree Siddhivinayak Sangh edged past Sankalpa Pratisthan with a close 29-27 win, proving that every point mattered.
The third encounter saw Shree Krishna Krida Mandal putting up a powerful performance against Gokulvaan Krida Mandal, clinching a 39-18 win. However, the biggest shock of the day came when Lalbatti Mandal, fresh from their earlier win, faced a setback against Shree Siddhivinayak Mandal, who outplayed them 40-34 in an intense showdown.
The excitement continued with Jolly Krida Mandal putting on a stellar display, emerging victorious in both their matches. They first outclassed Dattaseva Mandal 38-31, and later, in another hard-fought match, triumphed over Shree Krishna Krida Mandal 28-24, marking an impressive double victory on the day.
Kalina Rangers pips Kenkre FC
Kalina Rangers-CFF secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Kenkre FC in the Mumbai Premier League showcasing their attacking prowess and tactical discipline. Despite Kenkre FC enjoying 47% possession, Kalina Rangers-CFF made the most of their 53% control, registering 25 shots, with 16 on target, compared to Kenkre’s 18 shots and 12 on target.
The match saw a flurry of attacking plays, with both teams pushing forward relentlessly. Kalina Rangers-CFF capitalized on their nine corners, keeping Kenkre FC’s defense under constant pressure. Despite Kenkre FC’s resilience, their four corner kicks and one offside weren’t enough to tilt the game in their favour. A clean game was on display, as neither team received a yellow or red card, making it a thrilling yet fair contest.
SportVot and Free Press Journal Launch ‘Wicket Queens’ Women’s Cricket Tournament
In a significant step toward promoting women’s participation in sports, SportVot and Free Press Journal have announced the launch
of Wicket Queens, a women’s turf cricket tournament. The event is set to take place on March 8, 2025, across Mumbai and Delhi, in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The six-over format tournament will feature 12 teams per city, providing a platform for women from corporate and social sectors to compete in a structured and professionally managed cricketing event. Smaaash has joined as the Entertainment Partner, while Tennex has been onboarded as the Cricket Partner.
The matches will be held at CJ Turf x SportVot Play, Chembur in Mumbai and House of Cricket x SportVot Play, Rajouri in Delhi. The tournament is expected to bring together women from diverse professional backgrounds, fostering competition, community engagement, and the spirit of the game.
